Growth in Learning

Standard 27: Learners' diverse academic and non-academic needs are identified and effectively addressed through appropriate interventions.

Self-Rating: 3

Chambers Public School routinely addresses the range of developmental, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs to support students’ ability to learn by utilizing a social emotional screener three times per year provided by our ESU 8 school psychologist. A school psychologist and licensed mental health practitioner are present weekly to provide services to students of all abilities. The LMHP collected data regarding referrals and services provided and compiled it in a report. We use data to guide interventions for all learners showing social and emotional needs. The Second Step social-emotional learning program is implemented by the school counselor in grades K-6. The Win at Social social-emotional learning program is used in grades 7-12.

Assessment data and teacher observations are used to identify students who may need additional academic and non-academic interventions. Students are then referred to the department or program that can best meet their needs.
